Show Fees
  • $6 Per Class

  • $5 High Point Fee

  • $10 Sweepstakes Classes

  • $35 Ride All Day (members only includes high point fee does not include sweepstakes or junior horse classes)
  • $5/family Grounds Fee
    (if not stalled)

  • $25/day or $40/2-days
    Stall Fee (Wayne County only)

  • $22/night Camping (Wayne County only)

  • Blanket Fee
    $100 Members, $150 Non-Members (Includes all age-division classes, pleasure and speed, plus one stall. Does not include junior horse or sweepstakes classes)

Show Rules and Regulations

SPUR OF THE MOMENT HORSE CLUB REQUIRES PROOF OF NEGATIVE COGGINS AT EACH SHOW FOR EACH HORSE EXHIBITED OR BROUGHT ONTO THE WASHTENAW FARM COUNCIL GROUNDS OR WAYNE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS PRIOR TO HORSE(S) BEING UNLOADED FROM HORSE TRAILER.

All 4-H rules apply, regardless of rider's age, except where otherwise noted.
(The link to the 4-H rules is provided asa general guideline for the club's rules. Final rulings will be made at the discretion of the Board and according to the rules that the club currently has instated.)

Spur of the Moment reserves the right to cancel, split, or combine classes at anytime. Sign-up for desired classes must be done one full class in advance. When the gate is closed, the class has started.

Judges decisions are final. Participants and spectators, when outside the ring may have no contact with the judge. All complaints must be made in writing to the Board of Officers for review.

Jr. Horse ages is 5 & under as of 12/31 of the current year.

Exhibitors age is determined as of 01/01/current year. You must ride in your own age group, no crossovers will be allowed.

God's name is to be honored.
Honesty and Sportsmanship are expected of participants and spectators.
NO alcoholic beverages are permitted on the fairgrounds.

The Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds requires helmets be worn by riders 19 years and under while riding on the grounds and in the make-up area. ANSI or SEI helmets are recommend; Hunt caps are allowed in appropriate hutnseat classes.

Proper show attire is required with the exception of Trail and Speed Events. Requirements for these classes are long pants, a shirt with a minimum of a 4 inch sleeve, and boots with a minimum 1/2 inch heel. It is required that ANSI or SEI helmets be worn in the youth classes and recommended they be worn by adults in appropriate classes. Trail and Speed will follow all other 4-H rules and regulations.


Hitting the entrance gate with the horse during speed events will be cause for disqualification from that class. Polo wraps on horses are not allowed during speed events.
Speed events will not commence before 3:00pm on any show date

Absolutely no refunds will be issued.
Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled or refunded. In the event of a canceled event, there will be NO double pointing of classes at subsequent event.

Spur of the Moment Horse Club will not be responsible for death, accident, injury, or theft of any kind, to anyone or anything. Horse owner is responsible for all actions and damages done by their horse(s).

Daily High Point Awards
High Point is awarded to one horse/one rider, per division, per age group. Daily High Point will be counted from the time of your membership or when the daily $5.00 fee is paid. All classes except Junior Horse and Sweepstakes count toward Daily High Point unless otherwise noted.

Overall Weekend Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to one horse/ one rider with the most and second most total points for the weekend. All classes except junior horse and sweepstakes classes count towards weekend champion. .

Point System (regardless of number of entries):
This point system is used for calculating Daily High Point and Year End Awards.
1st place: 6 points, 2nd place: 5 points, 3rd place: 4 points, 4th place: 3 points, 5th place: 2 points, 6th place: 1 point.

Under the Michigan Equine Activity Liability Act (enrolled House Bill #5006, enacted 1994), an equine event sponsor is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from inherent risk of the equine activity.
