We are now offering stalls and camping at all the Spur shows
Stalls and camping available starting at 2pm on the Saturday before each Spur show. Stalls are available on a first come first served basis for $25 (bring your own bedding or pre-order $8/bag). Camping is $25/night, water and electrical hookups included.

Show Rules and Regulations

SPUR OF THE MOMENT HORSE CLUB REQUIRES PROOF OF NEGATIVE COGGINS AT EACH SHOW FOR EACH HORSE EXHIBITED OR BROUGHT ONTO WOODBINE FARM PRIOR TO HORSE(S) BEING UNLOADED FROM HORSE TRAILER.

All 4-H rules apply, regardless of rider's age, except where otherwise noted.
(The link to the 4-H rules is provided as a general guideline for the club's rules. Final rulings will be made at the discretion of the Board and according to the club bylaws and the rules the club currently has instated.)

Spur of the Moment reserves the right to cancel, split, or combine classes at anytime for any reason. Sign-up for desired classes must be done two full classes in advance. When the gate is closed, the class has started.

Judges decisions are final. Participants and spectators, when outside the ring may have no contact with the judge. All complaints must be made in writing to the Board of Officers for review.

Jr. Horse age is 5 & under, Sr. Horse age is 6 & over as of 12/31 of the current year.

Exhibitors age is determined as of 01/01/current year. You must ride in your own age group, no crossovers will be allowed.

Honesty and Sportsmanship are expected of participants and spectators.
NO alcoholic beverages are permitted on the show grounds.

Woodbine Farms requires helmets be worn by riders 18 years and under in jumping and speed events. ANSI or SEI helmets are recommended; hunt caps are allowed in other hunt seat classes.

Proper show attire is required with the exception of Trail and Speed Events. Requirements for these classes are long pants, a shirt with a minimum of a 4 inch sleeve, and boots with a minimum 1/2 inch heel. It is required that ANSI or SEI helmets be worn in the youth classes and recommended they be worn by adults in appropriate classes. Trail and Speed will follow all other 4-H rules and regulations.

Hitting the entrance gate with the horse during speed events will be cause for disqualification from that class. Polo wraps on horses are not allowed during speed events.
Speed events will not commence before 2:00pm on any show date

Absolutely no refunds will be issued.
Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled or refunded. In the event of a canceled event, there will be NO double pointing of classes at subsequent event.

Spur of the Moment Horse Club will not be responsible for death, accident, injury, or theft of any kind, to anyone or anything. Horse owner is responsible for all actions and damages done by their horse(s).

Daily High Point Awards
High Point is awarded to one horse/one rider, per division, per age group. Daily High Point will be counted from the time of your membership or when the daily $5.00 fee is paid. All classes with the exception of Open classes and Sweepstakes classes count toward a Daily High Point unless otherwise noted.

Point System (regardless of number of entries):
This point system is used for calculating Daily High Point and Year End Awards.
1st place: 6 points, 2nd place: 5 points, 3rd place: 4 points, 4th place: 3 points, 5th place: 2 points, 6th place: 1 point.

Year End Awards
You MUST be a member and show at least 3 of the 5 shows to qualify for Year-End Awards. Year-End Points will not be counted until membership is paid. Year-End Points are counted separately for each horse/rider combination shown and will not be combined. Year-End Points are tabulated for each class, excluding Sweepstakes.

  • Year End Class Awards
    Champion, Reserve Champion and Honorable Mention Champion will be awarded for each class (excluding Sweepstakes classes). Points are based on a single horse/rider combination. Winner will be the highest point count earner that competed in the class at a minimum of 3 out of 5 shows.

  • Equestrian Team Award
    Rider(s) will earn points for their team. Daily Team Points accrue and count for all team members present and competing. The same rider(s) do NOT have to compete at each event. Rider(s) will also accrue daily high points, if the rider is a member or pays the daily fee. Rider(s) MUST identify their team on the entry form and class sheets. Team points for current and upcoming team riders only. Spur of the Moment Horse Club will not be responsible for tracing a rider's team membership.

Under the Michigan Equine Activity Liability Act (enrolled House Bill #5006, enacted 1994), an equine event sponsor is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in an equine activity resulting from inherent risk of the equine activity.

responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any person(s), horse(s), or property in connection with this event.
